Questions

Questions and answers

The questions we are asked most often. If yours is not here, write to us.

01Do I need a visa for Uzbekistan?

Many nationalities enter Uzbekistan without a visa for short stays; others apply for an electronic visa before they travel. The rules depend on your passport and change from time to time, so check the current rules before you go. Your travel designer will confirm what applies to you before anything is booked.

02When is the best time to travel?

Spring, from April to June, and autumn, in September and October, bring the most comfortable weather and the clearest light. Summer is hot and dry, and suits those who like an early start and a long, unhurried afternoon. Winter is cold and the quietest season of the year, with the old towns almost to yourself and rates at their lowest.

03Which languages do your guides speak?

English and Russian as standard; other languages can be arranged on request. Tell your travel designer which you would prefer, and we will match a private guide to you and your party.

04How do we travel between cities?

The Afrosiyob high-speed train links Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara in a few hours, and it is how we prefer to move between them. For other legs we use a domestic flight or a private car with a driver. Every ticket and transfer is arranged before you arrive.

05Is Uzbekistan safe?

Uzbekistan is a calm country with little crime, and visitors are received with genuine courtesy. You travel with drivers we trust and stay in hotels we know, and your travel designer remains reachable throughout the journey.

06Which currency should I bring?

The local currency is the Uzbek som. Cards are accepted in city hotels and larger shops, but it is worth carrying some cash for bazaars and smaller towns. Your guide will point you to a bank or exchange office when you need one.

07Can I change one of the journeys shown here?

Yes. Every journey on this site is a starting point. Add a day, exchange one city for another, choose different hotels, or begin from a blank page; your travel designer writes the itinerary around your dates, your pace and what you would like to see.

08How do I book?

Send your dates and a few lines about what you would like to see, by WhatsApp, Telegram or the form on this site. Your travel designer replies with a day-by-day proposal and a price, and adjusts it until it fits. Once you approve it and pay a deposit, we book the hotels, trains and guides and send everything to you in one document.
